Chicken Soup for the Soul Offers Free Ebooks for Students of All Ages

Parents and teachers are looking for ways to keep students engaged while they learn at home during the coronavirus pandemic. Chicken Soup for the Soul, in partnership with American Humane, has a line of free ebooks for kids of all ages, available on all popular ebook platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple Books, Google, and more.

These books offer students fascinating stories about zoo and aquarium animals, along with photos. There are even free activity pages and complete curriculums available for download—all at no charge. The three volumes in Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Humane Heroes series are provided for all reading levels, with Volume I targeted at older elementary students, Volume II written for middle schoolers, and Volume III for high school students.

Here are just a few of the animals children will meet in the pages of these books:

Kasi the baby cheetah was orphaned and too young to be introduced into the adult cheetah community. The team at Busch Gardens didn’t want Kasi to grow up alone, so they found a special friend for him – a Labrador Retriever puppy. The two young animals lived together until Kasi was old enough to be integrated into the cheetah habitat. The two friends still see each other when the dog visits Kasi at the zoo.
A 23-year old penguin at the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut also needed help. And some middle school students came to his rescue. They partnered with the aquarium’s staff to use the 3D printer at their school to make the penguin a boot that helped him regain mobility.
Magic, the baby dolphin abandoned by his mother who was miraculously saved by a dedicated team at The Brookfield Zoo in Chicago.

The three-book, eBook series can be read on any eBook app – Kindle, Nook, Apple books, or any other – on their computers, tablets, or phones. Each book contains 12 age-appropriate stories – and color photos as well. The Chicken Soup for the Soul website includes supplemental photos and videos, and even fun worksheets kids will love. I want to tell you about a very important television event premiering commercial free on Monday, February 29th at 8 pm est. National Geographic is bringing the story of Malala to the NatGeo channel.

Growing up in Swat Valley, Pakistan 10-year-old Malala started to campaign for the rights of girls to receive an education. Using a pen name Malala wrote a blog for the BBC detailing her life under Taliban rule and her feelings on promoting education for girls. Her voice was almost silenced when she was shot by the Taliban at the age of 15 on her way home from school on her school bus.

However her spirit was not ready to be silenced and she did not die and she did not just survive, she thrived! She went on to win the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize which was jointly awarded to her and Kailash Satyarthi for their work in the field of children’s rights. Malala is the Co-Founder of The Malala Fund, a non-profit organization whose work around the world focuses on the rights of girls to receive a quality education.

Our Evening With The Original Harlem Globetrotters!!! #PTPAGlobies

As a PTPA Blogaholic I was provided with tickets to this event for myself and my family. All views and opinions are as always, 100% my own.

We recently attending an Original Harlem Globetrotters event at the Webster Bank Arena in Connecticut. We took our little boys ages 5 and 7 and it was their first time seeing the Globetrotters. The evening started with a VIP meet and greet with some of the players. This was very exciting and we saw close up how tall Stretch was, he is very tall!

After that we stopped to get food and headed to our seats. The show started and it was filled with all kinds of antics, feats of skill and fun. The Washington Generals were there along with their elderly coach and that whole scenario was the premise for lots of jokes and laughs.

People were pulled out throughout the show and thrust into character themselves. Big Easy was hysterical with his comical interaction with the crowd. Taken a ladies purse, drinking a kids soda, dancing with the husband of the woman who he stole the purse from and so much more.

A wonderful time with the mascots Globe (Globee) and Big G who were a hit with kids and adults alike. When Big G who was full of air kept falling on his face with a splat it was absolutely hilarious.

We had a wonderful time and if the Original Harlem Globetrotters make their way nearby to you during their tour, you should plan to go see them for a night of side-splitting fun on the court. You can go HERE to check dates, locations and purchase tickets.

The boys went home with some loot. We bought them tee shirts and basketballs so they can always remember the first time they saw the Original Harlem Globetrotters. I am sure it won’t be the last time.

Sunset Yoga Workshop in Brooklyn Bridge Park With Miz Mooz Shoes!!! #MizMoozMoves

Well, I am very proud to introduce my daughter Alexandra as a new guest blogger for Mommy Ramblings. Alexandra graduated with her Masters in Public Administration in May and is working full time with NJ Transit as a Transportation GIS Analyst. She lives in the NYC area and will be covering local events and happenings in the city that never sleeps. Her first event post is one I knew she would love. She is a very active young woman and after work can be found jumping on a train to a yoga studio. The weather was breezy but nice in the Harbor Side Park in DUMBO. The bright orange yoga mats were set up directly across the Manhattan skyline with a perfect view of the Statue of Liberty.

I am used to taking power yoga at my home studio but have been craving a slower flow and the teacher, Kelly, absolutely delivered. The poses she recommended were perfect to completely stretch out the body no matter if you were a novice or a very practiced yogi.

The class was very welcoming and provided a nice retreat from the chaos of the city. Miz Mooz showcased some very fashionable styles for fall and each blogger was sent home with a very comfortable espadrille style flat which I have been using for commuting on the PATH.

The shoes are comfortable and fashionably perfect for the city. I had an absolutely amazing experience sharing this class with all of the awesome bloggers and want to thank Miz Mooz for their hospitality and the great shoes and goodies we all got to take with us!
