Happy 25th Birthday To The Energizer Bunny!!! Get A $10 Walmart Card with Purchase of 2 Packs of Energizer Max Batteries!!!

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and its client.

Energizer Bunny 25th Birthday #BunnyBirthdayWMT #shop #cbias

Did you know the Energizer Bunny is celebrating his 25th Birthday?  The bunny that keeps going and going is also sharing gifts with all of us!  Right now you can purchase 2 specially marked packages of Energizer Max Batteries and qualify to receive a $10 Walmart Gift Card!  With the holidays coming buying 2 packages of batteries is a cinch!  Remember when buying gifts this holiday season, especially gifts for kids, check and see if they require batteries.  If they do, buy them and give them with the gift!  I was lucky my dad was the battery king and in our walk in pantry he had a large stock of batteries of all kinds.  We had big Christmas Eve gatherings that were spared the crying and whining because of this stash.  I cannot tell you how many kids received gifts that needed batteries and the giver had not taken that in consideration.

My husband with our 2 packs of Energizer Max Batteries!

My husband pointing out the $10 Gift Card Offer when you purchase 2 packs of Energizer Max Batteries!!!

Energizer Bunny 25th Birthday #BunnyBirthdayWMT #shop #cbias

I have heard horror stories of parents hunting around for batteries to power up a child’s new toy, even making desperate swaps from the remote, flashlights or other battery-powered devices to try and save the day.  This can all be avoided if we make sure to include the batteries with the gifts we give.

Our house now runs much like mine as a child, my husband is the battery king in our home and we have a nice stash of batteries. We are  ready for anyone who does stop by with a gift for our kids and forgets the batteries.  You might want to take advantage of this special promotion to stock up on popular Energizer Batteries and to buy them for the gifts you are giving.  You get a nice gift back in the way of a $10 Walmart Card by mail!

We went all out in celebrating The Energizer Bunny’s birthday and made a pink cake with my signature buttercream icing. Even the Hulk and a fire fighter stopped by to wish the Bunny a very happy quarter of a century birthday!!!  Look for the special display at your local Walmart and take advantage of this offer, because you know soon it will be going and going away!

So what are you waiting for?  Go out there and get your batteries and your $10 Walmart Gift Card.  I love that it’s the Energizer Bunny’s Birthday but I am getting a gift too!  It’s an added bonus because I would be buying the batteries anyway and now I get a special perk that I could use on coffee, candy, or more batteries!!!

I chose the Classic Meals plan and for my first meal picked the Spinach Rolls.  They were very easy to prepare.  You simply boil some lasagna noodles, thaw frozen chopped spinach which you mix with Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, one egg and salt and pepper to taste.  Then you take the prepared tomato sauce and put some on the bottom of the pan and lay the noodles down, fill with the spinach mixture and roll.  When they are all done you put the remaining sauce on and top with mozzarella cheese.  Then bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes and put your garlic bread in to coincide with your rolls completion time.  It was so easy and my family loved it!

Magic Cabin, Rubens Barn, Little Rubens Party Collection Dolls Review & Giveaway!!! #HolidayGiftGuide

Magic-Cabin-Logo

I love dolls, I always have. Growing up with a mother who loved dolls and finally had a girl who loved dolls as much as her, I was showered with dolls.  At Christmas there would be so many dolls awaiting me and I was probably one of the only kids who had a mom suggest they get a Madame Alexander baby doll in the Walt Disney World gift shop rather than the typical stuffed Minnie.

I was very much the same with my daughter and relished buying her dolls of all kinds.  Last Summer I was so impressed with Emil, a large Rubens Barn Original Doll that I could not wait to get another Rubens Barn cutie in my arms.  Well, that opportunity arrived and Little Meiya may be smaller than the Original dolls but she is tipping the cuteness scales! She has a full head of that signature downy soft black hair and a darling headband with large bow.

Little Meiya Rubens Barn Doll

Her adorable bubble romper is done in a bright cupcake fabric with a top in bright pink with white polka dots that matches the polka dot band of her headband.  Her sweet little toes peek out and her big brown eyes beg you to give her a hug.  She has a weighted bottom so she is quite substantial and able to sit without toppling over.  In the Little Rubens Party Collection you will find Meiya and many friends who would just love to come home with you.

Rubens Barn Dolls are machine washable so they can join your child on their daily adventures.   I warn you though, these dolls are addicting and you can’t have just one, which has me thinking about who should be next to join our family : ). Mommy Ramblings loves Rubens Barn Dolls so much she is adding them to our 2013 Holiday Gift Guide!

Little Rubens Barn Party Collection Doll

These colorful and cozy Little Rubens Party dolls are delightful dears your little ones will love! They’re the little cousins to the larger Rubens Barn® dolls that bear their same name. No matter which Rubens Barn character you choose for your own child, he or she is sure to be an enchanting friend for life.

Elizabeth Mitchell, “The Sounding Joy”, Christmas & Solstice Songs From American Folk Tradition CD Review & Givaway!!! 2 Winners!!!

I recently was given the opportunity to preview The Sounding Joy a CD by Elizabeth Mitchell and friends filled with Christmas and Solstice Songs from American Folk Traditions.  When I started playing it my little ones started coming into the kitchen dancing and trying to sing along.  My husband asked me what it was and he liked the sound very much and as a musician himself I would take that as great praise.  I thought it was very well done and definitely filled with joy.

You can get a free download of the song, Children, Go Where I Send Thee by clicking HERE!

The Sounding Joy Elizabeth Mitchell

Elizabeth Mitchell & Friends – Peggy Seeger, Natalie Merchant, Dan Zanes, Aoife O’Donovan & more – explore the Ruth Crawford Seeger Christmas songbook on ‘The Sounding Joy’ from  Smithsonian Folkways

GRAMMY-nominated recording artist Elizabeth Mitchell releases The Sounding Joy, an exploration of Christmas and solstice songs from the American folk tradition.  Drawn almost exclusively from the often overlooked but deeply influential songbook of revered composer and anthologist Ruth Crawford Seeger, these songs evoke an era before mass media and the commercialization of Christmas, when sacred song, dance, contemplation, and gathering were prized above all else during the holiday season. Mitchell’s fifth album for Smithsonian Folkways, The Sounding Joy features husband Daniel Littleton, daughter Storey, and special guests Peggy Seeger, Natalie Merchant, Amy Helm, Aoife O’Donovan, Gail Ann Dorsey, Larry Campbell, Dan Zanes, and John Sebastian, among many other family, friends, and neighbors. This gorgeously reverent 24-song collection attempts to save these traditional American holiday songs from an “unmarked grave,” as Merchant puts it in her essay included in the liner notes. The Sounding Joy is truly for listeners of all ages and is Smithsonian Folkways’ first holiday album in more than a decade.

Sneak Peek at The Sounding Joy: Listen to “Children, Go Where I Send Thee (Little Bitty Baby: A Cumulative Song)”  and

http://www.folkways.si.edu/radio/sounding_joy_preview/little-bitty-baby.html

While recovering from surgery four years ago, Mitchell spent a Thanksgiving weekend thinking about the project that would eventually become The Sounding Joy.  A longtime fan and champion of Ruth Crawford Seeger’s work, Mitchell soon found herself thoroughly immersed in Seeger’s third and final songbook, American Folk Songs for Christmas. Seeger, mother of musicians Mike and Peggy Seeger and stepmother of Pete Seeger, died from cancer at age 52 in 1953, the very same year American Folk Songs for Christmas was published.

The guest artists on The Sounding Joy are impressive. Amy Helm leads a rousing version of “Last Month of the Year” through a groove and vocal quartet style that invokes the early Staple Singers with guitar figures reminiscent of Malian desert blues. Natalie Merchant lends her vocals on the haunting “Joseph and Mary (The Cherry Tree Carol),” and also contributes an essay to the liner notes, while writer/artist Brian Selznick (author of The Invention of Hugo Cabret) provided illustrations for the album package.

Although the songs presented are specific to the Christian tradition, Mitchell’s husband Daniel Littleton cites the inclusive nature of the project, describing the assembly of musicians as an “ecumenical summit” of sorts, with participants of many religious and non-religious backgrounds coming together happily to bring the songs to life. Mitchell sums up the spirit of the album best in her notes: “However you and your loved ones celebrate the last month of the year, I hope it is filled with the sounds of joy.”

HOLIDAY-THEMED DVD FROM ONE OF TV’S GREATEST COMEDIANS!

CarolBurnettShow_ChristmasWithCarol_3D

THE CAROL BURNETT SHOW: CHRISTMAS WITH CAROL, the TV comedy legend’s very first holiday-themed DVD release! This all-new collection brings together three hours of some of the most memorable holiday episodes and sketches from The Carol Burnett Show, sure to have viewers ho-ho-ho’ing their way through the holidays.

This new DVD features two complete holiday episodes:

  • Show #813 (Original Air Date: December 21, 1974) – Looking for a Norman Rockwell-style Christmas, merry and stress-free? Then avoid the Higgins residence. Santa would. Despite Eunice’s “Merry Xmas” apron and Ed’s mile-wide red tie, there’s no joy in the house once Eunice’s younger brother Larry (Alan Alda) and Mama arrive. They all act like they sat on a bough of holly. Ed’s ready and eager to capture every Kodak-Christmas moment for posterity. On a happier note, Carol and Alan Alda find peace amid the commercial holiday hustle and bustle. He’s a soon-to-be unemployed department store Santa, while she’s all thumbs over in the gift-wrapping section. Their Nobody Does It Like Me duet fits like a warm Christmas sweater.
  • Show #1113 (Original Air Date: December 18, 1977) – Mr. Tudball and Mrs. Wiggins aren’t known for their rapport or business smarts. She moves about a mile an hour, and he talks with a bizarre hybrid accent. They awkwardly observe the “mistletoe” tradition. Once he breaks out some champagne, the boss and his secretary finally communicate-sort of. Tudball’s wife, played by Vicki Lawrence, pays a surprise visit to the office and catches them with their guards down, so to speak. Vicki and Tim Conway carefully measure Carol for a Christmas present, a dress and hat combo that looks like the handiwork of a true idiot. The smart money’s on Tim. Carol’s concluding song celebrates Christmas and all holidays of the year, large and small.

Add in some hilarious bonus sketches such as “Christmas Night Quarrel” w/ Carol and Sid Caesar, “Charwoman: Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” and Q&A w/Jonathan Winters (Show #017, December 25, 1967) and “The Twelve Days after Christmas” (Show #114, December 30, 1968) and you have a new Christmas tradition, to be watched again and again with the family every holiday season!

Choosing Sinks For Our New Master Bath Remodel!!!! #CurbAppeal #Houzer

houzer

Well, the tile is officially ordered and boy was that scary.  I always over think it and then wonder if I picked the right thing, lol. I know it will be great, it’s just such a big and highly permanent decision.  We also made another decision on the under mounted sinks.  I went with something a little bit different and chose 2 under mounted stainless steel oval basins from HOUZER.

One of the reasons I chose them is because with the shower doors and shower panel in the stainless, I think they will go perfectly.  I know it’s not something you normally see used, but I think it will work well.  What I really like about them is their quality, HOUZER sinkware is made from durable Type 304 stainless steel, an optimal mix of nickel and chrome, making their sinkware exceptionally resistant to corrosion and stains for the life of the product. It provides a hygienic, scratch-proof and resilient surface that requires minimal care and maintenance.  Each HOUZER sink is covered by a Lifetime Warranty to the original purchaser against any possible defects in materials and workmanship. HOUZER is not  satisfied unless their customers are totally satisfied with their products. A beveled edge on the outer rim of the under mount sinks provide increased structural rigidity for the entire sink span, and creates a smooth and finished look.  SpecPlus Edge is found only in HOUZER sinks.

And for the record my countertop is not blue like this. It is going to be a granite or quartz and I have not picked the color yet.

And for the record my counter top is not blue like this. It is going to be a granite or quartz and I have not picked the color yet.

We also chose the  design with the overflow and they are already here at the house.  Now we just need to finalize all the other decisions and that needs to happen quick.  HOUZER carries  all kinds of sinks for kitchens and baths.
