Baby Gogo Doll and Moses Basket Review and Give-away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

It seems baby dolls have consistently been one of the most beloved children’s toys of all time. Children see parents with their baby brothers or sisters and want to imitate them in taking care of their own baby. Many dolls available today have so many features, like talking, crying, wetting diapers, even growing their hair! I myself am a fan of a simple classic doll that teaches a child to use their imagination to make their baby doll come to life, as it can be a great learning experience. I was sent a Baby GoGo Doll and Moses basket for review a short time ago from their manufacturer. I was pleased to find that this toy was a sweet, classic doll, that is perfect for inspiring natural, imaginative play!

Baby GoGo was recently reinvented for the 21^st century, outfitted with cozy, gender neutral pajamas and a soft little blankie! In addition to the Baby GoGo doll and Moses basket, they also have a diaper bag and play outfit, with more to come! My niece enjoyed mothering her Baby GoGo doll, laying it in the Moses basket for a nap, covering it with the soft blankie, and watching as it closed it’s eyes and slept. A book is included with the doll, “Baby GoGo Goes Home” That tells of Baby GoGo coming home from the hospital to meet big brother and sister! The body of Baby GoGo is soft and huggable, but with more realistic face, arms and legs. It has long pretty eyelashes on it’s eyes that open and close! The Moses basket is colorful and sturdy, it has a small pocket on the outside, and is the perfect size for Baby GoGo, and includes a tiny fluffy pillow! The handles on the basket make for easy carrying, and I can imagine my niece will be carrying it with her everywhere, using her imagination and being a wonderful little mother!

Baby GoGo and accessories would make the perfect Christmas gift for any little girl or boy, especially if there is a new baby in the family. They can use their new baby doll and imitate mommy and daddy and learn to help out with the baby. The Babymio Collection Review & Give-Away!!!

The Babymio Collection is a line of blankets, plush animals, slippers, robes and accessories for babies and toddlers. Though their robes and slippers only go up to toddler sizes, their adorable animals can be loved at any age. The plush collections features six animals:Millie the Giraffe, Jax the Tiger, Mooky the Cow, ChiChi the Cheetah, Mellven the Moose and Kona the Monkey. The company started in a spare bedroom by a mother and daughter team is now located in a warehouse in Sunnyvale, California. I was generously sent a Kona Monkey Plush Animal, Kona Blanket and Kona Slippers for review. After Luke’s bath we tried everything out. He loved the slippers, they were soft and cozy with a soft plush elastic type back strap to keep them on securely. The blanket is so soft and plush that I want one for myself. Luke is an expert on blankets (his middle name is Linus) and he gave it two thumbs up for the minky softness and adorable factor. The plush monkey is absolutely precious and as I said above their line of plush is great for any age. They are super soft, nicely detailed and well constructed. Once you see one, you will want the whole jungle! You can put together a great coordinating gift that is just perfect for baby showers, baby birth gift, Christenings, and other occasions. You can even get a matching plush for the other new baby’s siblings so they don’t feel left out.

Songs from the Baobab: African Lullabies & Nursery Rhymes Book & CD Review and Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

I really enjoy enriching my children’s lives by introducing them to different cultures and traditions. I was recently sent a book to review that allowed me to do just that. “Songs from the Baobab” is an enchanting book of African lullabies and nursery rhymes. This hardcover book includes a CD that stores inside the back cover. Representing 11 languages originating from Central and West Africa and brought to life with lavish illustrations, this collection’s rhymes and lullabies soothe babies and children to sleep as the songs travel from one country and one language to another. Lyrics are reproduced in the original language and translated into English, followed by notes on the origin and cultural context of each song. The accompanying CD features 29 songs from 10 countries—including Rwanda, the Ivory Coast, and Senegal—each one unique in language and sound, recorded with indigenous instruments and exquisitely performed by women, men, and children. This delightful, enchanting production captures the staccato rhythm of the children’s rhymes and the poetry of the language as well as a sense of the heritage and tradition of each culture.

This is a great book to share with your children. It is an excellent book for little ones who have been adopted from the countries represented, as it helps them identify and know the cultural songs and rhymes that are native to where they were born. This book and CD are also a great resource to use in school settings and tie in with lessons about different cultures and traditions. If your family shares their heritage with the cultures in this book you will absolutely love reading and singing the rhymes and songs with your children.

The book features colorful illustrations by Élodie Nouhen as well as full lyrics in the original languages, translated into English. A map and explanatory notes serve to make this an enchanting educational experience for adults as well as children.

Paris-based musician and educator Chantal Grosléziat recorded these pieces with singers from each culture. Paul Mindy arranged each piece with traditional instruments, including the kora, balafon, kalimba and rain sticks. The lullabies and rhymes make frequent references to animals and the natural world. For example, the Central African Republic lullaby “Dunga” urges the newborn to “take your strength from nature.” Family relationships, and in particular the loss of a parent, are find a place in these songs from cultures where disease, famine and war are part of everyday life. A song from Mauritania tells the baby, “your mother has gone to search for jujubes,” and a piece from Guinea evokes the sad fate of orphans, saying “Sali Wonde, nothing is eternal.”

On each turn you have to make decisions on which dice to keep and re-roll. Do you play it safe and hold a pair of 4s, or chance it and try for a high pair? The second game is a great game that spurs lots of conversation among family members. It is called Family Talk 2 and is the second edition of their award-winning Family Talk game. Manhattan Toy, Boysterous Action Figures, Slope Shreddin’ Sean Review & Give-Away!!! {Give-Away Ended}

If you have little boys and are looking for an original gift this holiday season, you will be very interested in Boysterous Action Figures. Boysterous is a new line of action figures from Manhattan Toy. These little boys are on the move just like real boys, they have possible arms and legs that allow them to hold realistic positions. With Boysterous their magnetics make it easy for little hands to put them in a pose and they will stay there. Boysterous is not a toy that will leave your child frustrated or calling for you to keep fixing something. My two-year-old son Luke has a love for oven mitts as strange as that may sound. It all started with a Melissa & Doug red and white checked oven mitt he got in his slice and bake cookie set last Christmas. He would wear that oven mitt around all the time. He is such a funny kid.
