Reflect the Light – If you’re maxed out in the lamp department, have limited amounts of natural light and still want to make things brighter, invest in reflective decor. Mirrors, glass tables and shelves and metal furniture and accent pieces all reflect the light to make it brighter and more dazzling. As an added bonus, mirrors make rooms seem more spacious too.
Ditch Dark Floors and Walls – Light-colored paint works wonders when it comes to brightening up a room. If your lease doesn’t allow you to repaint the walls, invest in light-colored artwork and decals. The same applies to floors. You can’t install new flooring, but adding a few light-colored rugs into the mix should make a major difference.

8 Ways to Brighten Up Your Living Room

Natural light flowing into your living room makes the room feel spacious and inviting. Therefore, it is beneficial to your overall decor to allow the maximum amount of natural light into the room. When natural light is limited, you can do make some creative design and decor choices to brighten up the room.

Using the minimum amount of window coverings will allow the natural light to flow more freely into the room. Light weight window covering fabric is a good design choice. You could choose window treatments such as blinds that can be raised to leave the majority of the window uncovered during the day and lowered for privacy at night.

Mirrors
Hanging a mirror across from a window is a smart design trick that helps brighten a room. Choosing a mirror with a gold or silver frame gives you an additional reflective element in the room. Mirrored tables are an ideal accent piece in any room that you wish to brighten up.

Decorative accessories
The accessories you incorporate into your decor can help brighten up the room. Clear vases such as those found at different online shops are an ideal choice. Shiny gold and silver vases add elegance to a room while providing a surface for light to bounce off of. Clear vases can be used in a variety of ways in a living room decor. Make These Easy Easter Cupcakes & Learn How To Bake Eggs For Coloring!!!

If you are looking for an easy, festive treat to make for Easter, you still have plenty of time to make these adorable cupcakes.

Just make your favorite flavor cupcakes and then get your frosting ready. I use my own buttercream but you can use canned if you do not like to make your own.

Get a decorating bag ready and use a Wilton Multi-Opening Decorating Tip 233. Tint your frosting green with Wilton Gel Coloring or you can use liquid food coloring if you want. Then just squeeze and pull up to create grass.

In the grass you can put a PEEPS bunny or chick, little M & M eggs, Robin’s Eggs, Jelly Beans, or chocolate covered almonds. You can also use some white buttercream and make little nests with an open crown tip and fill with candy eggs. You can sprinkle the nests with sugar decor to make them sparkle or coconut flakes.

Another great tip I got from a friend is to bake your eggs instead of boiling for coloring. You just put your eggs in a muffin tin and bake at 325 degrees for exactly 25 minutes. Do not over bake! You will get great eggs with no cracks! I tried it and love it!

Adorable Mickey Mouse Theme Cookies & Cupcakes!!!

Having a Disney party? Maybe a Mickey Mouse theme? If so you may want to try these easy to make adorable party cookies and cupcakes. You will need Oreos, red chocolate melts and white chocolate chips for the cookies and cupcakes, frosting, Oreo Minis, and colorful nonpareils and sprinkles for the cupcakes.

For the cookies follow along with the pictures for the simple steps:

Your ingredients to make the cookies.

Melt the chocolate per the instructions on the package.

Dip half the oreo in the melted chocolate, and place on a silicone lined baking tray or parchment paper to harden.

Put 2 white chocolate chips to look like buttons on the red chocolate while still wet.

Then let the whole confection harden.

When they have hardened, they are ready to serve to your Mouseketeers!!!

Bake your favorite flavor cupcakes and use your favorite white frosting. I make my own buttercream but you could use canned frosting if you want. Frost your cupcakes and then add colorful nonpareils or sprinkles and two Mini Oreos for ears. Super easy and super cute for all the clubhouse guests.

String Eggs; A Fun Easter Craft!!!

Sting eggs are an easy and fun craft project you can make to decorate for Easter and other occasions. To get started, you will need balloons, white glue and crochet thread. The small water balloon type balloons work best because you can easily inflate them to look like eggs.

Make a glue mixture with white glue and water. Use 2 parts glue and 1 part water, this is messy, so be sure to cover your work surface. Next, cut the thread and dip it in the glue and start wrapping it around the balloon.

You can use a lot of string to wrap or use less, it is a personal choice as to which look you like. When you have have finished wrapping the entire balloon, you can hand them or prop them up to dry. When they are fully dry and stiff to the touch, hold the end of the balloon and pop it with a pin.

Don’t be scared, I made a lot of these, and very few popped with a loud pop because of all the glue they are coated with. Instead, they release the air slowly making sounds similar to the snap, crackle and pop you hear when you add milk to Rice Krispies cereal. Once the balloon is completely deflated you can easily pull it out through an opening in the string.

Place your string eggs in a bowl, put them on a ribbon to make a festive garland, use them to make a wreath, you can even add pretty little string lights, there are so many options, so have fun!

The Tractor Cake!!!

Ethan’s tractor cake was a big hit. Such a big hit, he did not want to cut it but wanted to play with the tractors on top of it. It was delicious too filled with a vanilla buttercream and iced with a decadent chocolate buttercream and then decorated with crushed oreos and green buttercream icing with a grass tip. It went very fast and was a lot of fun. Here are some pictures. If you have any questions, ask away!!!

The New Family Communications Center!!!

There is still more to do, labels to make, but the majority is up. I am so happy to see the vision that was in my mind on the wall. I am sorry for the quality of the pictures but since it is in my hallway off my kitchen, it is a bit of trick to photograph. Across from it I have a regular paper calendar that I record milestones on to transfer into the kid’s baby books. As Spring is finally approaching this should work out great to organize the sports games, work schedules, and our appointments. I will let you know how it works out.
