“HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS!: THE ULTIMATE EDITION” Giveaway

MERRY GRINCHMAS!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT’S ENDURING HOLIDAY FAVORITE, HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS!: THE ULTIMATE EDITION IS AVAILABLE ON BLU-RAY™ AND DVD

This joyous, heart-tickling holiday event based on Dr. Seuss’ beloved book and featuring the voice of Boris Karloff has delighted viewers of all ages since its 1966 debut. The fun begins when the grumpy, grouchy, Yule-hating Grinch plots to ruin the Who’s Christmas. Can he steal their holiday spirit by stealing their holiday treats? Or does Christmas…perhaps…mean a little bit more?

This is one of my favorite Christmas movies! Now, this Ultimate Edition has more Grinchy fun for everyone!

    • How the Grinch Stole Christmas – Magnificently narrated by Boris Karloff and directed by animation genius and cartoon legend Chuck Jones, How the Grinch Stole Christmas tells the story of the miserable Grinch, who wants to sabotage Christmas for all the Whos in Who-ville. The Grinch thinks that by stealing the Whos Christmas trees and presents, he’ll succeed in stealing their joy. However, when Christmas morning arrives, the Grinch is taken by surprise when he notices the Whos greet the day joyously singing Christmas carols regardless of the fact that their village has been completely stripped of holiday gifts, decorations and treats. The cheerful attitude of the Whos prompts the Grinch to ponder the true meaning of Christmas and he slowly comes to realize the spirit of the season is not generated by material possessions. Will the Grinch have a change of heart and consider returning the Whos’ Christmas gifts?

    • The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat – The Grinch is up to his old tricks again in The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat, the Emmy Award-winning special directed by legendary animator Friz Freleng. In this special, the Cat in the Hat encounters the Grinch while picnicking one day. He refers to the Grinch as Mr. Greenface, which the Grinch takes an as insult, prompting him to retaliate by building a series of outrageous devices designed to cause all sorts of disruption. First, he creates a “Vacusound Sweeper,” which distorts any and all of the sounds within a 50-mile radius of the Cat in the Hat. Then he creates the “Dark House,” which is the direct opposite of a light house and puts the Cat in the Hat into complete darkness. He then uses the “Flummox Deluxe” to further warp the Cat in the Hat’s surroundings, which sends him and everything around him into complete chaos. Will the Cat in the Hat figure out a way to stop the Grinch and outsmart all his crazy devices?

    • Halloween is Grinch Night – When the Sour-Sweet wind starts to blow in Who-ville, all the Whos take cover because this signifies the beginning of Grinch Night, an evening in which the Grinch descends upon Who-ville to terrorize all its citizens. As the Grinch sets out on his journey to Who-ville, he encounters a courageous young Who named Euchariah, who attempts to stall the Grinch from reaching Who-ville. The Grinch however puts Euchariah into a trance in which he encounters all sorts of strange creatures who try to intimidate him. Will Euchariah manage to snap out of the trance in time to stop Grinch from reaching Who-ville?

“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” By Dr. Seuss Review and Giveaway!!!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas! is a classic book and I am sure most of us remember from our own childhoods.  My husband loves reading this to our kids and so do I, it never gets old.  That green Mr. Grinch is a mean one and those Whos down in Whoville are just minding their own business and celebrating the joyous Christmas season.  Little Cindy Lou Who even comes face to face with The Grinch who gets her a drink while he empties her house of the festive decorations and leaves not even a crumb big enough for a mouse.

His poor dog named Max who is forced to play the part of a reindeer and has us all feeling sorry for his terrible plight.  However, in true Dr. Seuss fashion, we know this story has a lesson and one that the Grinch learns that day.  Even though he took their gifts and the wrappings, the feast, the trees, and every bit of tinsel, he could not stop the joy that unites the Whos down in Whoville who start singing.  The Grinch is in awe, and wonders how can it be!  He took it all from them and yet they still sing.  A miraculous thing then happened to that nasty, old Grinch, it is said that his small heart grew 3 sizes that day!  See the Grinch realized something the we ought to much more, he realized that Christmas does not come from a store but perhaps just perhaps it means a little bit more!

Mighty Casey is a Mighty Good Book!!!

I love books, love to read, love to read to my kids and love finding great children’s books.  My husband will tell you I have too many books.  I know it is all moving to electronic readers but I have not fully embraced that yet.  One area I really feel the need for a real book is when I read to my kids.  I mean it is so engrained in me from being read to as a child, to being read to in school.  We had this great librarian in elementary school and she would always end our library day with reading us a book.  She made a very big production and would light a candle and when she was finished the story, she had one of those brass candle snuffers to put it out.  This was very cool for a 7 year old and I would recreate that scene many times as I played school as a child.

I have always loved reading to my kids and started when they were born.  Actually I read a lot when they were in utero.  I even had the Dr. Seuss book, “Oh Baby, The Places You’ll Go!” which was written to read to our children in utero.  My older kids loved to go to book stores more than toy stores and we went often.  We would come out with armfuls of books and everyone would be so happy.  Unlike me, my older kids can read in the car without getting sick and you would never find my daughter without a book.  Her love of books was so memorable that her brother who was a little more than 18 months younger wrote a story in 4th grade about how she had packed way too many books on a flight to our vacation and the plane crashed.   When we crash landed, the bag of books fell on her 3-year-old brother’s leg and broke it.  It was a funny story and since they had the same 4th grade teacher, she could not help but laugh because she knew how true the story could be.

Anyway, so now the two little ones are in that great stage of loving being read to.  Last weekend I went to a favorite store of mine, that is a book goldmine.  I was by myself and took a long time perusing over the many children’s titles.  I got some books for their Easter baskets but I also got some nice story books.  I have not gotten to read that many of the new books because my 3 year old is obsessed with one of the books.  I knew when I saw it he would like it because it was about baseball, but I did not know how much he would love it.  We read it a few times and then he pours over the pages himself.  He knows the names of the kids on the team.  In the stands we have to find Daddy, Mommy and all his brothers and sister.  We talk about the various things the kids are doing and I cannot tell you how much he loves this book.  Luke (2) likes it too but Ethan just loves it.  The funniest thing was when my husband read it for the first time to the kids, he started tearing up at the end.  I mean it is a feel good story about an underdog team of pretty bad players coming through in the end.  If you have a little sports fan, you should check out this book.  It is great for us because Ethan is about to start his first season of T-ball.  I highly recommend this book.  It is titled, “Mighty Casey” and it is by James Preller and illustrated by Matthew Cordell.
