DII For The Home, Cheri Cherry Vintage Apron Review & Giveaway!!!

I have loved to bake since I was a child and one of my favorite things when baking was wearing an apron because it made me feel very accomplished in the kitchen.  I have never stopped liking aprons and have quite an extensive collection but there always seems to be room for one more.  I recently had the opportunity to review something form DII For The Home, and I was very impressed with the selection of great items but finally chose the Cheri Cherry Vintage Apron.  It reminded me of an apron my mother had and the pattern is very retro and it just called to me.  I received it and I was not disappointed, it is very well made and really has a very nice retro look and feel.  You can easily feel your inner June Cleaver coming through when you put this on to bring some fresh lemonade and homemade chocolate chip cookies out to Wally and Beaver, err I mean your own kids.  Whether you are a whiz in the kitchen or just want to look like you are this apron is fun and functional.  Vintage cherry print accented with coordinating candy striped trim, pockets and ruffles. 35-inch length by 30-inch hem. 100-percent Cotton. Machine washable.

DII For The Home is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win their own Cheri Cherry Vintage Apron.  Thank you DII For The Home for the great review apron and for this great giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

Mishi Design, Grow Up 3 in 1 Toy; Walker, Ride On & Shopping Cart Review & Giveaway!!!

Mishi Design, an Italian based company established back in 1995 developed a really cool line of transformable toys in 2007. Mishi Design noticed that during the first years of their lives, kids are going through many physical and mental changes. They noticed that parents often bought many toys as their children transitioned from one stage to another leaving a trail of useless products once outgrown that needed to be stored, sold or recycled. Their Grow Up 3 in 1 Walker, Ride-On and Trolley is quite an ingenious alternative.

This toy will grow with your child from pre-walking stage of 8 or 9 months until 72 months plus. You can start assembling it as a baby walker cart and it is a sturdy little cart that won’t topple and baby can gain confidence and strength pushing it around. When toddler thru preschool stage the walker cart can be disassembled and reassembled with the included extra parts to a neat little foot powered ride on with a wagon in the back. For even more variety and years of use the ride on can be converted to a tall shopping cart or trolley. Wow, talk about a sustainable toy!

I easily assembled this into the ride on with very little trouble, it was a bit scary bending the thin flexible wood piece that forms the wagon or cart part so I called my husband in for that. After assembly my three year old and five year old could both ride it. My boys love wagons and carts and carting things around. The little cart in the back is great for giving a favorite bear a ride or toting some trucks around the house. The shopping cart is great for interactive and imaginative play. Sturdy and tall it has a long life span. Talk about a toy going the distance!

Mishi Design is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win a Swing Up 2 in 1 Rocking Horse to Toddler Trike Toy.  Thank you Mishi Design for the great review 3 in 1 toy and for sponsoring this great giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US residents.

Mishi Design Swing Up Transformable 2-in-1 Wooden Toy – Rocking Horse to Toddler Trike – Suitable for Ages 12-36 Months

Swing Up is a rocking horse that can be transformed into a toddler trike with each design offering different gravitational challenges which exercise motor stability development. As the main framework remains the same for both toys, transforming between the two is a very quick and easy process allowing great enjoyment flexibility for your little one.

The Learning Journey International, Shop and Learn Cash Register Review & Giveaway!!!

I was thrilled recently to have the opportunity to choose a product from The Learning Journey International to review.  After browsing their great products for quite some time, I decided on the Shop and Learn Cash Register.  The Shop and Learn Cash Register is an interactive electronic learning toy.  It has three activity modes to grow with your child from  age 2 and up.

Activity Mode 1-Let’s Play!

Allows your child to learn colors, numbers and food items through discovery and exploration. Press any number button and the Shop and Learn Cash Register will announce the selected number.  Slide any of the include food items through the food item scanner and the Shop and Learn Cash Register will identify the food item.  Insert any number of coins and the Cash Register will  let the child know how many coins have been inserted.

Activity Mode 2-Find It!

This activity asks your child to identify a specific food item by sliding it through the scanner or to identify a specific numer on the cash register.

When this activity is selected the unit will ask a random set of questions.

To answer the questions correctly, either press the correct number button or slide the correct food item through the scanner.  The Cash Register will let your child know if they are correct or not.

If the answer is correct the Cash Register will give the child a positive response and ask another question.  If the answer is incorrect 3 times in a row, the Cash Register will automatically ask a new question.

Activity Mode 3- Let’s Go Shopping!

This activity teaches the child the value of food items by asking to pay for them with either coins or credit card.  Each food item has a different value.

The Cash Register will prompt your child to slide a food item through the food item scanner.

The Cash Register will identify the food and value and instruct the child to pay using the correct number of coins or using the credit card by pressing an announced number and running the card through the slot.  The Cash Register will let the child know if they completed the transaction correctly.  If the child did it correctly the unit will praise them.  If the process is done incorrectly three times in a row the until will move on to another question.

I primarily asked to review this item based on my three year old but soon found that both my three and five year old both liked it.  They played it together on Activity Mode 3 and they liked scanning the items and then completing the payment as instructed.  The unit works well and is very well constructed.  This was a great toy for them to share and play togehter with, encouraged them to take turns, one would scan the other pay for the scanned food item and then switch.  The unit has a friendly voice and kept the kids attention and the interactive play really amused them.  If you are looking for great learning toys check out The Learning Journey International.

Lilla Rose Flexi-Clip Review and Giveaway!!! Special Buy 3 Get 1 Free!!!

I have very long hair, and I am also a mom, so you can imagine that I have to put my hair up most of the time. If I leave my hair down, it is constantly being pulled on, getting in my way, and usually getting tangled. I don’t always have a lot of time to put my hair up either, so usually I just throw it in a ponytail or quick bun and go on with my day. Sometimes I wish I could do more elaborate styles or use something prettier, but when there is no extra time for me to spend on my hair, I must resort to the plain hair elastic in a ponytail. If you are a mom like me, then you might appreciate this review for the Lilla Rose Flexi-clip! I have been working with Independent consultant, Sarah Ives, to bring you this brilliant review and giveaway!

Sarah Ives, a busy mom of 3, was having the same tribulations with her hair as I was, she was looking for a faster way to a more attractive hairstyle. When she discovered the beauty of the flexi-clip, she knew she had to share her discovery by becoming an independent consultant for Lilla Rose.

I was asked to pick out my favorite flexi-clip from her website for the review, and I chose the Roman Cross design for me, and the Scroll Heart mini for my nieces. The Roman Cross flexi-clip is even more gorgeous in person than the photos on the website, the contrasting beads are eye-catching! My nieces loved the mini Scroll Heart flexi-clip, it is so small and adorable, just like them! Both clips are sturdy and crafted beautifully, the 8 shape flexes over your hair to make a better fit than a solid piece would. After getting the hang of the flexi-clip, it is pretty easy to put my hair up in many different styles, my favorite is the drop bun, it gives such a pretty classical look, and doesn’t take much time at all! Now I don’t have to resort to putting my hair up in a plain ponytail when I don’t have time for anything more elaborate, it takes maybe a minute to throw my hair into a twist and secure it with the clip. Here is a helpful video demonstrating how to do the drop bun in your own hair with the clip:

Independent Consultant Sarah Ives is sponsoring today’s giveaway on Mommy Ramblings! Two lucky readers will win a certificate redeemable for a Lilla Rose flexi-clip of the winner’s choice, valued up to $16!! In addition to the giveaway, Sarah is offering new customers of Lilla Rose a promotional sale, buy 3 flexi-clips from her website and get 1 free!  After you have bought your first three, just email Sarah (sarahevan5@aol.com) your choice for your free flexi-clip! Thank you Sarah Ives for this gorgeous review flexi-clip and for sponsoring this fantastic giveaway and promo!!! Giveaway is open to U.S. Canada and Mexico.

Shutter Huggers Review and Giveaway!!!

Has there ever been a product you invented in your head and then one day you see it on the market?  That is how it was when I saw Shutter Huggers.  I think a lot of moms and photographers have also invented this product in their minds, but a couple of moms actually followed the process all the way through and started Shutter Huggers.  There are lots of adorable plush characters to choose from and they all have a scrunchie type middle that just goes right over you lens.  The one thing I would have added is sound to the characters in terms of a jingle or a squeak, knowing me I would have added both just to have that little extra attention grabbing option.  I received the dalmatian and the monkey Shutter Huggers for review.  The dalmatian comes in colors that are great for even capturing a very young babies attention.  So if you are looking for an easy way to give your camera some personality that little ones will love, try Shutter Huggers.

Nautilus, CoreBody Reformer Review & Giveaway!!!

I would bet that you all know just how important your core is to your body.  A strong core is the foundation of your body.  Pregnancy and childbirth can really rock your core and not in a great way.  Getting that strong core back is key to looking and feeling better.  When you workout though you want to see results all over, a total body workout.  That kind of workout makes one think that they would need bulky gym equipment in their home or have to trek to the gym and so many times especially as busy moms we just don’t have that time.  Wouldn’t it be nice to have something compact, light, easy to store, that had everything we needed all in one piece of equipment.  Well, look no more, The CoreBody Reformer from Nautilus is here!

I was recently sent a CoreBody Reformer to review.  I was amazed at how light it was and just how simple it was to get started.  All I needed to do was to push the button on the top, twist and pull out the bar and support legs.  Then just lie the body on the legs, place the bar back in the slots on the top and screw and secure the top back.  The resistance is controlled by the push buttons and is super easy to set.  When both white buttons are out, that is the lowest resistance, for medium, push one of the buttons in on each side and for the most resistance push both in.  The unit comes with a DVD with four workouts, go anywhere fitness flip cards and a schedule to start you on your way.

I could not wait to give it a try and I enjoyed it so much.  The express workout is only 20 minutes but you will feel great after it.  I loved the trainer because she was not a drill sergeant and really told you to watch your form more than reps because just doing multiple reps if your form is off does not help.  She performs the routines with two others who demonstrate variations for beginners and advanced.  By the second day I was upping the resistance and could see in one day that I was ready to try more complex moves. It is fun and I like that I think almost anyone can do the exercises. I am so happy to be able to get a full body workout right in my family room with a lightweight piece of high quality equipment that can just be picked up and put in a hall closet or that can be easily packed and carried anywhere so you can workout outside, take it with you on vacation and weekend trips, even camping and never have to miss a workout.

HULLABALOO, “Raise A Ruckus” CD Review & Giveaway!!!

So, in the last week we have celebrated two graduations in our family.  One son graduated high school and another graduate preschool.  We are full swing into Summer and it is nearly July 4th.  Most families will be on the road a lot this summer.  Whether you are planning a bunch of day trips or at least one big vacation, chances are you are searching for a way to make those road trips more enjoyable for  everyone and filled with less, “Are we there yet?” questions.  We were recently sent a brand new CD from Hullabaloo called Raise A Ruckus. With ten major national awards in their hip pocket and an eight-year track record of glowing critical acclaim, the beloved “free-range, organic” kid-folk duo Hullabaloo has pulled out all the stops for their 10th studio CD, Raise a Ruckus.

Produced by GRAMMY® nominee Tor Hyams,  Raise a Ruckus takes Hullabaloo‘s down-home, good-times musical ebullience to a new level, with guest artists Grammy® winner Buck Howdy, Grammy® winner Marcy MarxerMolly Ledford of Lunch Money, and the extraordinary multi-instrumentalist Dennis Caplinger — whose credits include Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, Vince Gill, Ray Price, Rita Coolidge, and Nickel Creek, among many others — bringing their considerable talents to a kick-up-your-heels party with the duo that’s been described as a blend of Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, and Mr. Rogers.

Hullabaloo has made a career out of creating tickle-your-funnybone, laugh-out-loud humor that saturates every song and qualifies them as direct heirs to the likes of Homer & Jethro and the Hoosier Hot-Shots.  The clever quality of Hullabaloo‘s narrations sets the story of each song in a halo of brainy sophistication, while their knockout musicianship and vocal clarity deliver the entire production with a sense of effortless grace.  Steve Denyes and Brendan Kremer can safely challenge any parent or child to listen to them cut loose on a goofy gem like “Dad Upside Down” without cracking a smile.  That kind of infectious humor permeates every track of Raise a Ruckus.

The album’s title song — in the old days, a real “get down and boogie” staple on Louisiana Hayride and The Grand Ole Opry — has been given new, kid-friendly lyrics and up-to-date energy, while other songs, like “Trash is My Treasure” (the triumphant anthem of a food-recycling seagull) have a more contemporary slant.   One of the most evocatively colorful songs on Raise a Ruckus, “Favorite Day,” calls upon Molly Ledford to combine her vocal and xylophone talents with those of Dennis Caplinger on ukulele and dobro, along with the great sound ofGunnar Biggs‘ slap bass. Buck Howdy really shines on a “Song About Nothing,” which proves that if a song has a great shape and energy, syntax takes a back seat.

Steve Denyes and Brendan Kremer met in kindergarten and have been friends ever since.  They started playing music together in the 5th grade band, where they vigorously showed off their developing talents on “Old MacDonald” and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.”  Little did they know that, decades later, these songs would still be among their biggest hits!   Steve grew up to be an elementary school music teacher, folksinger, and songwriter, while Brendan became a rock ‘n’ roll drummer.  Hullabaloo officially began when Steve and Brendan teamed up to play a few songs at Brendan’s twin daughters’ first birthday party.  Fast-forward eight years to find that Hullabaloo has performed more than 1,500 shows throughout the country at venues ranging from birthday parties to fancy concert halls.  Along the way they’ve released nine award-winning albums (at last count, with more than 20,000 sold) and developed a loyal following nationwide.

You can take my word that Raise A Ruckus is a CD that will not have parents cringing and hoping their kids will fall asleep so they can shut it off.  Parents may actually find themselves singing along and listening even if the do fall asleep.  This is truly a CD that kids and parents will enjoy together and one that will make the time go by quickly and with less whining and asking, “Are we there yet?”  Raise A Ruckus will be available at hullabalooband.com, amazon.com, cdbaby.com and iTunes.  You can also listen for yourself by clicking HERE and going to the right hand side of the page.

Waldmania PR is sponsoring a giveaway on Mommy Ramblings.  One lucky blog reader will win their own Raise A Ruckus CD.  Thank you Waldmania PR for the great review copy and for sponsoring this knee slapping, toe tapping giveaway on Mommy Ramblings!!!  Open to US and Canadian residents.
