Susan Gal offers a heartwarming tale of old-fashioned goodness. The industrious pigs of Day by Day build a home, plant a garden, help their neighbors, and then gather in a harvest grown with hard work and kindness.

The language is sweet and simple: Day by day, the seasons turn. Shoulder to shoulder, pigs gather the harvest. Hand in hand, pigs give thanks, then cheek to cheek, they dance. The artwork is bright and full of the merry antics of a  happy family and a tight-knit community.  And these pigs are flat out adorable!
This delightful story celebrates family and community, caring and sharing.

We received this book for review from Random House and it is really a very heartwarming books that shows these jolly pigs as they motor to a new area and build a life there.  Watch as the pigs build their new homes, plant gardens, all join in on the big harvest and celebrate and give thanksgiving.  It has lovely illustrations and is a short book that is long on the value of family and friends.

Random House, “Duck & Goose Find A Pumpkin” Book Review and Giveaway!!!

Being a book loving family, it’s no wonder that even my youngest is a huge book lover who loves to bring books in his crib with him at bedtime.  He was thrilled when we recently received, the “Duck & Goose Find A Pumpkin” book for review.  When we read it at bedtime he laughed at Duck and Goose’s antics on their search for a pumpkin and was so happy when they finally found one in the pumpkin patch.  The large board book is sturdy, can be wiped clean and stands up to even the youngest readers who may be a little rough at times.  This book is great for introducing even the youngest children to the Fall season and one of the great treasures it brings.

New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Tad Hills brings our favorite feathered friends out to find a big, beautiful pumpkin in this sturdy, large-sized board book. Duck & Goose look everywhere for a pumpkin–in the apple tree, in the leaf pile, inside a hollow log. . . . Where will they find one?

The large size of this edition makes it a perfect book for sharing during storytime or lap time.

TAD HILLS is the author and illustrator of the ALA Notable BookDuck & Goose–called “expressive and adorable” in a starred review from Kirkus Reviews–and Duck, Duck, Goose, both New York Times bestsellers. His Duck & Goose board books include the ALA Notable Book, What’s Up Duck?, and the Indie bestseller, Duck & Goose: It’s Time for Christmas! He is also the author-illustrator of How Rocket Learned to Read, a New York Times bestseller and a Parents’ Choice Award Winner, and Rocket Writes a Story.

Random House, Little Golden Book Classics Review & Giveaway!!!

We are big readers in this house, from the smallest to the tallest, books are a huge part of our lives.  Little Golden Books have been a part of my life since my first memory.  I had hundreds as a child and I still have many of my childhood Little Golden Books, as well as many that my older children had as kids and now my little ones have too.  They bring back such memories and the authors and illustrations that I grew up with are so nice to share with generation after generation.  I recently received two Golden Book Classics to review.  Mr. Noah And His Family and The Cow Went Over The Mountain, immediately made me smile as I unpacked them. I could not wait to read these to my little ones and always  marvel how these books have stood the test of time as they delight children as much today as when they were first introduced.

This classic Little Golden Book features adorable artwork of a child playing with her toy Noah’s Ark set, accompanied by a sweet rhyme that preschoolers will love to hear as they identify the animals. Illustrated by Alice and Martin Provensen, who brought The Color Kittens and The Fuzzy Duckling to life for Golden Books.

JANE WERNER was one of the first editors of the Little Golden Book line. She wrote many of them over the years, including the bestselling classic My Little Golden Book About God.

Caldecott medalists ALICE and MARTIN PROVENSEN began to illustrate books together in 1946, many of them for Golden Books. Their Little Golden Book The Color Kittens, written by Margaret Wise Brown, is a beloved classic.

Little Cow thinks life will be better on the “other mountain,” and convinces a few animals that the grass will be munchier, the bugs crunchier, the water sploshier, the mud sloshier . . . but when they get there, they find that the grass isn’t really greener on the other side. This simple, witty tale, brought to life by Caldecott medalist Feodor Rojankovsky, was originally published in 1963 and is now back in print as a Little Golden Book Classic.

Born in Russia, FEODOR ROJANKOVSKY (1891-1970) immigrated to the United States in 1941. He immediately began working on books for his friend Georges Duplaix’s company, Artists and Writers Guild, which had just begun to produce a new line of titles called Little Golden Books. Rojankovsky went on to become one of the most prolific illustrators of Golden Books. In 1956, he was awarded the Caldecott Medal for Frog Went A-Courtin’(Harcourt).
