We were asked to review a VIATEK RENU-IT Pro Series Professional Grade Disposable Battery Regenerator recently. This nifty device is said to restore power to disposable batteries up to 70 times. It can regenerate AA, AAA, C, D & 9V batteries.

Renu-It is a professional grade disposable battery regenerator. It can regererate NI-MH, Ni-Cd and Alkaline batteries from 2.5 hours to 7 hours depending on size of battery. This is how it works, the chemical reactions within the battery cause electrons to be stripped away from the carbon electrode so electrons will try to flow from a battery’s negative terminal to its positive one, if allowed. As a battery is used this cell gets “disorganized” as electrons get jumbled trying to make their way to the positive terminal. The Renu-It Pro “reorganizes” the internal structure of the battery cell allowing it to be reused up to 70 times.

I have to admit my husband was a skeptic when I showed it to him. I convinced him we had nothing to lose so when the kids would have dead batteries in their toys we put them in the RENU-IT. Well, it worked even re-using the batteries for toys that need a lot of power like their guitar amps. My husband said it was easy to use and told you if a battery was not able to be re-used. So we now use this device and feel a bit better about using batteries longer before they end up in some landfill. Every little bit helps and it sure saves money if you can use disposable batteries again.
